Why Music Is Important For Artists
Music is important for a variety of reasons, with the right music you can improve productivity and even increase client sales. You can use music to help represent yourself and your brand. Whether you realise it or not, you will have some form of brand as an artist. Think about what aesthetic of your work, if you have a studio space the décor inside, and the type of services you offer. Music needs to reflect all of this. If your clients are older you probably don’t want to be playing heavy metal music. Equally, if you have more of a trendy, young client base you might not want to play hits from the 80’s. If you want to have music in your studio, or put together a playlist, think about what atmosphere you want to create.
A survey by VisionWorks states that 84% of customers think that playing music makes a service provider's atmosphere more welcoming or exciting.
Music & Motivation
Music can be especially important for motivating yourself and if you have them; your staff as well. There are many reports that discuss the importance of music in relation to productivity. Music can provide a relaxed and motivating atmosphere, making for a better working environment for you. In turn, this can increase your productivity. A silent space, however, can lack interest and creativity, often decreasing your energy and make you move slower. Music can also be an incredible motivator to get you through your admin work while putting in office hours creating invoices and responding to emails.

Our Alchemy Beauty Academy Playlist
Have you ever tried creating a custom playlist for when you are working? We usually just pop on a Spotify / Pandora / or Apple music station and hope for the best.
But our Co-Founder Kimm tried her hand at creating a custom playlist for our students to unleash their inner creativity and get their application speed up while in class! Here it is…
Tips on Choosing Music for Your Own Playlist
• Slower paced music might be better for mornings
• Faster pace can curb the post-lunch slump
• The new/familiar mix. People like covers of old songs by new artists eg: Ellie Goulding covering Elton John’s ‘Your Song’
• Remixes an also be a great way to keep things upbeat and exciting
• Your music tastes might not be to everyone else’s!
• Consider your clientele and their age
• Ask clients about their favourite music – this can help you get a better understanding of client’s music tastes.
We hope you enjoy our playlist or at the very least we have inspired you to create your own!
